Liverpool ended their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 victory over Lazio with a 90th minute Andriy Voronin volley.
It was a game where Andrea Dossena and Robbie Keane made their Anfield debuts, starting the match for the Reds.
Liverpool were in the drivers seat throughout the game as Xabi Alonso kept on splitting the defence with his pin-point passes. Andrea Dossena was absolutely brilliant on the left hand side, overlapping Benayoun for more support.
The first half was anything but exciting. Both sides failed to get a shot on target, although some good work on the wings by both teams.
As the Liverpools substitutes rolled in at half-time, the game started to get a bit exciting as Lazio got into the game. Pepe Reina was forced to make two good saves and on the other side Daniel Agger had his shot blocked by the Lazio ‘keeper.
Liverpool made 11 changes near the end which also saw David Ngog and Diego Cavalieri taking a bow in front of the Kop.
The Reds left it late on and in the 90th minute a run from Ngog on the left hand side and a pass to youngster Jay Spearing led to a volleyed goal by Andriy Voronin after a good pass by the reserves midfielder.
Lazio however did equalize in injury time to dampen a few faces in the crowd, but the goal was ruled offside, as the Kop cheered. Liverpool will now face Standard Liege in the Champions League qualifiers.
