Reina: Alonso will be tough to replace

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina believes the sale of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid could effect Liverpool’s title challenge next season.

Alonso completed his move to the Spanish giants last week after Liverpool accepted a £30million bid.

Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani joined the Reds from Roma for £17million as the Spaniard’s replacement.

“It is very difficult to find a player like Xabi,” said the Spanish international. “He is like a fabulous orchestra conductor on the pitch.

“Of the central midfielders in the world it is very difficult to find one as complete as Alonso.

“He can do everything. He can play short passes, long passes, he heads it well and is tactically very astute.”

He added: “This year almost all the big sides have lost an important player.

“I believe Everton, Aston Villa or Manchester City could really make it exciting this year.”

   i think alonso wanted to go ages ago because rafa was going to bring in barry so that would have ment alonso would have lost out. i think aquilani is the right man to replace alonso because he’s a good passer of the ball and he can attack more so he could score more goals for us.

   we lost keegan who was the best player we had at the time. and went on to get dalglish who was a better team player and ended up a legend, injuries will decide how we go on this season, i thought we should of brought a stiker in it could prove a problem for us if we dont

   i don’t know in this new season, Liverpool can get title of primiership or not…. please consistent… not lose with any team max 1…  not make a lot of draw… mac 4…
