Pictures: Sami Hyypia farewell party

All the Liverpool players gathered at Jamie Carragher’s restaurant Cafe Sports England to hold a farewell party for departing Sami Hyypia.

The big Finnish defender will join Bayer Leverkusen within the next few days.

Hyypia, in his 10 year career, scored 35 goals in 464 appearances for Liverpool.

He has always been a positive presence on and off the playing field. With his steely nerves that rival even those of high stakes texas holdem pros, he’s been a figure of consistency. Hyypia is everyone’s man and will definitely be sorely missed.

He played his last game for the Merseyside club against Tottenham Hotspur on the last day of the season.

The Finn broke down in to tears after the final whistle against Spurs.
