Liverpool v Standard Liege: Team News

All Liverpool players will be injury-free ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier second leg against Standard Liege at Anfield.

Club captain Steven Gerrard is still carrying a small groin problem, but will most likely start the game like he did against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Red Olympians Javier Mascherano and Lucas Leiva, who have just come back from Beijing will not be available for selection, however Ryan Babel will be in the squad.

Sami Hyypia is still doubtful for the game after suffering a hamstring injury. Xabi Alonso is also likely to pair up with Gerrard in midfield although speculation will continue about his future at Anfield.
