Liverpool scored four goals as they won by a three-goal margin against Norweigan side Valerenga in Oslo on Tuesday night.
Valerenga’s Ullevaal stadium was full of Reds fans (most of them from Scandanavia) to watch the penultimate pre-season friendly.
Liverpool started the game with Fernando Torres and Robbie Keane up front. Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger were at the back with Martin Skrtel injured.
The Reds started the game well, passing the ball around in the Valerenga half. But then, Xabi Alonso’s curling strike from just outside the box gave Liverpool the advantage.
Steven Gerrard limped off injured half way into the game and he might be a doubt for the Champions League qualifiers.
Valerenga pressed however, with Agger and Arbeloa letting in a few players, but Liverpool held out to the interval.
The second half proved to be exciting with four goals being scored. Valerenga equalized soon, but it was cut out by Fernando Torres’ cool finish. Then Yossi Benayoun took the lead for the Reds with a stinging strike.
New signing David Ngog coolly slotted home his second goal in two games as Liverpool sealed the win.
Liverpool will face Lazio at Anfield in their final pre-season friendly on Friday night before the Champions League qualifiers and they big kick-off at the Stadium of Light on August 16th.
