Liverpool line up Alonso replacement
Liverpool are set to lose Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid within the next few days and are targeting Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani as a replacement.
Alonso is set to complete his move to the Spanish giants at the start of next week, according to AS.
If reports are to be believed, the Spanish international will join Real Madrid for £32.7million + add-ons.
Rafa Benitez has sent agent and his personal friend Frank Trimboli to Italy to discuss a move with Roma for Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani.
“We need to be open and listen to any type of offers that are proposed to us,” Roma manager Luciano Spalletti said.
“We are not worried, we know what we need to do.
“There will probably be two or three transfer market deals done and I am convinced we will be able to work well.”

Xabi is great, but he’s getting older, and two player with as much quality as Alberto and Silva are worth it.

because he can play winger or striker…so essentially we could use him as back up for torres or gerrard, plus have another option on the wing. That and he is just a quality player
