“I miss playing in front of the Kop”

August 22, 2008

Daniel Agger has admitted that he can’t wait to play at Anfield again after close to 11 months.

Agger last played a game at Anfield 11 months ago against now-relegated Derby County.

Agger had suffered several injuries in his second metatarsal in his right foot which kept on recurring. He missed the whole of last season excluding the starting.

“It is difficult to explain what it was like for me watching from the directors’ box,” said Agger. “It was really, really difficult. Every footballer wants to play in every game, so to sit there and not be able to do anything was really frustrating.” he told the official website.

“I couldn’t get involved in the atmosphere because I was just sitting there thinking, ‘I want to be on the pitch.’ That’s why I worked hard every day to get back.

“I have missed playing in front of the Kop.

“It’s always a good feeling to play at Anfield, to be there and feel the great atmosphere at every game. Everyone in the team wants to show the fans a good game,” he ended.

The Danish defender however, may not start the game against Middlesbrough on Saturday after playing against Spain in a friendly, mid-week and might be preserved for the Standard Liege game.
