Gerrard unhappy with Lucas criticism

Steven Gerrard has backed Lucas Leiva and believes some of the criticism he receives is unjustified.
Several Liverpool fans have showed their anger at the Brazilian however, Gerrard wants the fans to cut the Brazilian some slack.
“The criticism he receives does get to me,” Gerrard said.
“I think people forget he’s 22 years old. He’s not 27 or 28.
“I remember what I was like at that age and I look at where I am now. I know that I’m a one-million-percent better player now.
“I got better with experience. I made mistakes and learned and it has helped me become the player I am.
“Lucas is a good player and I know he’ll continue to get better.”

Lucas is quality, just a bit inconsistent. a few more years with the reds, you’ll be a brilliant player with experience. Glad we have such a great skipper, aye lads? YNWA

in my observations, Lucas is an average player, sloppy tackler lacking pace but does have a soft touch. However, if Stevie believes this then i’ll shut up about him….in the mean time, sign Hulk from Porto

lucas isn’t brilliant but he played decent against man u as well as arsenal and he’s definately got room for improvement. I mean he’s heaps better than last yr right?
