Another lie from the mouth of Tom Hicks was as inevitable as the over-hyped Sky Sports News Bonanza on transfer deadline day. It seems to have been an age since Tom Hicks promised a “big” summer for Liverpool and, with all of the media attention focusing on the managerial (and ownership) merry go-round at Anfield, most supporters had forgotten all about yet another unfulfilled promise from the Texan cowboy.

On 16th April 2010, Tom Hicks and George Gillett signalled the beginning of the end of their time in charge of Liverpool Football Club. After just over three years of debt, lies and broken promises, the American owners had seemingly provided desperate supporters with a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, by announcing that the club was up for sale.

Year after year we get our hopes up that this season could possibly be the season that Liverpool break their seemingly never ending wait for that elusive 19th League Championship, and secure our status as the best team in Britain. Normally, by Christmas time most of our hopes have been shattered and we’re left looking to next season yet again.
