Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has warned his Liverpool side not to get complacent after they broke Chelsea’s 86-match unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League after Xabi Alonso scored for the Reds. However, Carragher has admitted the Reds shouldn’t get carried away although this may be a confidence booster.
“Before today Chelsea were playing as well as anyone in Europe. To come here and win should give our confidence a boost but we realise there’s a long way to go yet,” he said.
“Their record was never going to go on forever, they were always going to lose at some point, and I’m just glad it was us who managed to beat them.
“We are top of the table but as I said, there’s a long way to go. Over recent years Chelsea and United have been towards the top and ourselves and Arsenal are trying to get involved and challenge. Hopefully we can bridge the gap this season.” he added.
