Benitez set for new contract

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is set to get a new contract, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.
Tom Hicks and George Gillett are currently in Liverpool and plan to have a meeting with Benitez today (Saturday).
The pair have been in touch with the manager in the last 48 hours through emails and phone calls.
The American co-owners have ammended the contract to suit the former Valencia manager.
Both Hicks and Gillett will be present at Anfield for this weekend’s match against second-placed Chelsea.
Benitez’s assistants have contracts upto the end of the season and are also set to get new contracts.
The next 48 hours could prove vital in terms of the club’s future.

Am i the only one who notices that liverpool end up in the same form as every other season? This isn’t just tiredness, its rafa, i dont think he is good enough or he becomes overconfident from the beginning and just sticks any team on against opppositions. I do believe he has done a good job in a way that he made a good team from lack of funds but he isnt the best at team selection, we definitely need a new manager. Look at barcelona first rijkaard, now guardiola new managers do sometimes help.

People seem to be forgeting how far rafa has brought us since he took over. He took a team of no hopers who ended up finishing 37 points behind the league winners, with djimi traore and biscan, and won us the champions league. Pretty sure shanks would be happy with that. Not only that but he’s had to deal with a take over by the yanks who have run the club with such disrespect for our traditions, and disgraced us. I cant imagine someone like martin oneil or fergie or wenger putting up with that kinda crap (klinsman incident?)
He’s had nowhere near the spending power of his rivals, yet with all this in mind what are we complaining about? that we’re not gonna win the league this year? Our problem is that for the first time in years we really belived we could win it, and now it hurts so much to think UTD will probs equal our record. But lets not forget the continuous improvement year on year in the league, which will only lead to victory eventually, remember that since benitez has come to the prem, wenger has won no prems at all and that fergie took all of erm…
… SEVEN YEARS before he won his first title! Have patience. The year we dont improve is the year we say bye to benitez, but that time has not yet come.

The season is not over yet and all you so called fans are crying like bitches. Mr Benitez has a team to manage, So to all the unhappy fans, Judge him at the end of the season. Anyone with sense knows that the problem starts with the owners and Rick Parry. All the promises of big time players and lots of cash, Have been one big lie. If i was a manager of a top four side and had little money to spend i would feel very frustrated and under a hell of a lot pressure. So leave him the fuck alone and wait to the end of the football season. He’s trying to win the title for the first time in nineteen years,So leave the fuck off and let him do his job.
Mark Smith, the end of the season is tool late! You will be the one pissing and moaning next season and the following ones when we still have not won a title. It is easy to post analyze how things could have been better. The 20-20 vision of heinz-sight is useless, the people that are willing to stand up now and recognizes , the serious lack of continuity in performances lies directly on Rafa’s shoulders, should be the ones that are applauded. Is that supposed to signal that you were correct? We are all happy Liverpool won, but remember even a broken clock is right twice a day. We have a good team, he is bound to have some success. This is by no means the proof that he is the right manager for liverpool. His man management is terrible, his dealings with the press are erratic and shambolic to say the least. If it were not for Stevie G this season playing against the odds Rafa would be gone already. So man up and don’t be so foolish.
