Alberto Aquilani successfully passed a stringent medical at Melwood today and has agreed a five-year contract at Liverpool.
The former Roma midfielder will be a direct replacement for Xabi Alonso, who joined Real Madrid for £30million last week.
Aquilani cost Liverpool just under £20million however, the 25-year-old will only watch his new team-mates take on Atletico Madrid at Anfield in the final pre-season game of the campaign on Saturday.
Aquilani, who will earn £80,000 a week at Liverpool, suffered an injury in March and had surgery on his ankle in May and is currently still recovering.
The Italian international will now complete his rehabilitation under the guidance of the Anfield medical staff and is expected to be back in 4-8 weeks.

why don’t you formally buy him 4-8 weeks later in order to save his wage of 320,000-640,000 pound?
Because the transfer window would be closed by then, duh!!

80k per week…..quite expensive for a player that get injured often. Hopes he can prove that he worth it. Lets not be another kewell, great player but never fully fit and earns huge salary too….!!!
