Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has warned the Reds staff not to rush Steven Gerrard back from injury into the team.
The Liverpool skipper suffered a hamstring tear against Everton in the FA Cup and is sidelined for up to three weeks but is surprisingly in contention for the game against Manchester City on Sunday.
“It is good to see Stevie coming back but we have to wait until he is 100 per cent,” warned Alonso.
“It is not intelligent to rush him back. Whenever he feels okay he will be a big part of our squad again.”

I think we can do without him for this one match and it isnt worth the risk if he just feels “okay”, id prefer he wait that bit longer because in the long term it shall help.
So do I. Maybe it’s better to leave him on the bench because if something happens it will ruin the whole season!!
