Agent insists Liverpool bid is genuine

Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi’s agent Alejandro Mazzoni insists Liverpool have made a bid to sign his client.

Earlier in the week, Napoli’s director Pierpaolo Marino said there had been no offer made and manager Rafael Benitez also played down interest.

He said: “Pierpaolo Marino continues to lie. I reiterate that a Fifa agent presented Napoli with an offer from Liverpool for Lavezzi.

“This was a formal procedure as the player cannot be contacted directly (by Liverpool) because he is under contract with Napoli.”
